Meet GEENIE Wilbert (@wilotiago) who graces our community from 📍 Massachusetts!
As we near the end of PRIDE month, we wanted to share their beautiful message to BIPOC queer folx. Double tap and share to show Wilbert some love 👏🏾
🔁 @wiotiago: divine feminine energy
This post is a love letter to all queer BIPOC— you are this world’s sunshine. Often people forget how pride goes beyond the month of June, our relentlessness is an example of it. We navigate this world not only as BIPOC but as queer folx, embracing our queerness while being people of color is one of the most beautiful acts of resistance. We owe it to black trans women, who fought for a space in a community that constantly prioritizes queer white folx. We have been forced to create our own spaces. Spaces where our are voices are heard, our queerness is celebrated and our blackness is honored. Because of that, my pride look is just me, sharing the light that my fellow QTBIPOC have gifted me. To all the queer BIPOC youth that navigate this world with fear of expressing themselves— I see you, I celebrate you, and I’m here for you. I wish for a pride where both our blackness and queerness is celebrated, the one that our black trans mothers wished for.
